Design Criteria

Most Harbridge heat exchangers are manufactured from high quality stainless steel alloys for durability and longer life. Because of the effectiveness of our heat transfer, our peak metal temperatures are historically lower than our competitors. We are often able to manufacture our units with more “off-the-shelf” grades of stainless which helps our customers enjoy more competitive pricing while utilizing the advantage of very high efficiency heat transfer. Our broad range of experience includes construction in many grades of stainless steel like 409, 430, 439, 304L, 316L, 309, 310, 321, and 330.

We have experience with many design options and are capable of firing our IDF exchangers in a range of lay-outs for both vertical and horizontal airstreams, sidewall or roof fired, natural gas or light oil fuels, inert atmospheres, high elevations etc. etc.

Typical ranges of operation for IDF heaters include 5,000 to 100,000 cfm and 500,000 to 5,000,000 BtuH output with good efficiencies up to 650°F to 700°F. Our normal thermal efficiency is an impressive 87%+ at 350°F process air temp.
