Weld-Wire Recovery System
A weld-wire pneumatic conveyor/collector has been developed to reduce net material cost for three-piece cans by reclaiming excess weld wire and collecting it for recovery by a smelting operation.
The principal features of the patented system include a discharge valve and control system providing continuous welder operation and a combination of features that provide minimum noise generation and lower power consumption (2.22KW per welder at nominal design transport velocities). With the optional variable frequency speed control, the system has been tested to reduce power an additional 34 percent.
The filtration system protects the fan and avoids returning dirt and debris back into the plant. Providing adequate barrel access, the compact design of the conveyor/collector means that it takes up very little floor space. The compact design also extends to the welder pick-ups, minimizing the space required at the welder area. Mechanical joints provide easy-access piping for reverting, in emergencies, to local containers, and for future additions and parts/fitting access.
Standard Features
- Variable frequency control to optimize system operation
- Quiet! - Separator and silencer details provide exceptionally quiet operation. Clean-side blower avoids further deformation of the wire
- Clean - filter unit protects blower and allows recirculation to plant - no need to provide additional make-up air
- Compact - unique intakes at welders minimize space on the floor. Electrical isolation and sampling access provided. Standard frame design and elevated platform minimize plant floor space required
- Efficient - unique features require minimum power consumption
- Proven - unique field-proven patented design
