The Harbridge Slitter Scrap Transport (SST) System was developed to improve line operations and efficiency by automatically chopping and transporting slitter scrap from three-piece can lines to a common collection point. Typically, a three-piece can manufacturing line will collect first and second operation scrap in bins under each slitting machine. This scrap is loosely packed at minimal packing density. Due to the low density, collection bins must be emptied often leaving the can-making line unattended. In addition, the low density packing increases transportation expenses as more trucks are needed, more often, to remove the scrap from your plant.

Harbridge has eliminated this major source of inefficiency and unnecessary expense by designing the Slitter Scrap Transport system for three major functions:

  • Chopping the first operation scrap to allow packing at higher density
  • Collecting first and second operation scrap automatically to lessen operator responsibilities
  • Transporting the slit scrap away from the line and directly to the dumpster
  • Reducing transportation cost

The SST system is modular, allowing the operation of several slitters on one collector. It has been designed for nearly continuous service with little maintenance or attention.
